The elements required to conduct or reproduce an ink
consumption test for any rigid media printer (flatbed) are
found below including the common source image, detailed test procedure,
documented measurement method and data recording sheet. Using any accurate
hanging scale and these methods and data, the ink consumption rate of any
flatbed printer designed to use UV curable inks can be accurately
determined.
IMPORTANT! This test method only accounts for ink deposited on the test media during
the printing process. It does not account for ink consumed in maintenance
before, during or after printing nor does it account for ink lost to
evaporation, waste prints, etc. Some systems consume a significant volume of
ink in these secondary operations but these issues remain outside the scope
of this test.
